Transportation Coordinator

How you'll contribute This position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients from various locations and facilities to the Hospital campus and/or other designated locations. The role maintains a daily log of mileage and gasoline usage and submits all gas receipts to the appropriate person(s). It ensures the vehicle is presentable and clean for patient transport, and maintains mileage records for routine maintenance scheduling. It supervises patients to maintain safety and treats them with respect and dignity. It coordinates transportation routes and travel for all sites and may take on additional duties for the transportation department. Job Responsibilities Coordinate transportation routes for all outpatient sites. Assist with coverage within the transportation department as needed. Identify and coordinate meeting spots for patients and family members. Identify and evaluate routes that create efficiency in the transportation of patients. Ensure the schedule and program are consistently delivered to the expectations of the facility. Safeguard the dignity and respect of our patients and customers. Employ appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as required and according to policy and procedure. Shuttle patients to appropriate places approved by a supervisor. Protect patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements. Use only equipment trained to use and operate all equipment in a safe manner. Report all potential hot spots and safety concerns to supervisor/manager. Report all accidents and incidents observed on shift to manager immediately. Monitor vehicle condition and record malfunctioning items or damage and submit to manager. Learn and remember pick-up and destination points. Experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred. Minimum of 3 years paid or volunteer professional driving experience. Minimum of 1 year experience in a customer service position. Valid driver's license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance. CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
