The Position Builds relationships and demonstrates the clinical outcome and benefits of NNI products. Provides medical information, educates and demonstrates the benefits of key products and patients. Coordinates education workshops per management direction. May explore and identify sites for clinical trials per direction from leadership. Demonstrates mastery of disease state and product knowledge. Works independently and exhibits a take-charge attitude. Requires increased skill sets including, but not limited to: taking initiative, working creatively, adding value to the region and country by creating and sharing best practices and assisting others in the team to succeed. This position requires less supervision. Within Field Medical Affairs, this position functions as a scientific liaison between NNI and key external customers to further scientific exchange. S/he provides advanced product and scientific and medical field support to Medical, Sales and Marketing, as well as Managed Care and Government by using academic credentials and scientific expertise to communicate with health care providers, organized providers/accounts and other relevant healthcare organizations. Strategic determination of change of territory prioritization will be based on customer need and analytics which identify need for change. This may occur at any time throughout the annual performance cycle.

Relationships Position reports to Field Director/Senior Field Director. Represents the organization externally as the primary field technical and scientific contact for clinicians (including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, diabetes educators), professional societies, academic medical centers, integrated delivery networks, managed care organizations, etc. Represents the organization internally as the primary field technical and scientific contact for NNI field teams (e.g., primary care, specialty and institutional/health systems sales and sales management, clinical research associates, diabetes educators, state government affairs, Health Economics Outcomes Research (HEOR), etc.)

Essential Functions Administrative Duties: Completes administrative duties in an accurate manner and on a timely basis, in line with current SOPs and working practices Ensures and performs effective administrative management of regional business as well as operational budgets Maintains thorough understanding of all relevant Novo Nordisk processes and procedures and proactively assist other FMA members to further their understanding with these as needed Provides accurate monthly reports on scientific support activities in region to Director including budget expenditures as directed Records all activities within One Stop Shop (OSS) and all expenses within Concur in accordance with FMA procedures

Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development: Applies advanced technical principles, theories and concepts of NNI, its products, current scientific research and publications associated with therapeutic area of interest Attends and presents in assigned medical and scientific meetings: a) maintains knowledge of the latest issues and new data pertaining to NNI products; b) develops and establishes relationships with health care and IHN providers; c) develops and support appropriate use of NNI products and greater utilization of its services d) supports representatives and HSMs in answering questions from health care and IHN providers Combines account management skills, business acumen and scientific expertise to enhance value and develop collaborative relationships Develops and provides ongoing product and scientific updates for the Region as requested Encourages and stimulates ideas, questions and input in special Regional projects (e.g., team meetings, training, etc.) Establishes relationships with academic centers and investigators to participate in clinical trials and identify key areas of future research Establishes relationships with health care providers, IHNs and Key Formulary Influencers (KFIs) to further the knowledge of NNI products and their appropriate use; when necessary, anticipates and prepares resolution to resolve issues pertaining to that use Establishes the medical account strategy/plan through the identification and cultivation of key relationships and brings forth appropriate collaboration opportunities Gathers customer insight regarding NNI and competitors products to help inform medical and commercial decision making Identifies and prepares responses to inquiries and develops relationships with major health care professionals and IHNs; liaises with those individuals with novel research concepts, clinical experience and expertise, within identified therapeutic areas of interest to Novo Nordisk Inc Identifies and recruits qualified investigators to participate in company-sponsored activities (e.g., speaker, investigator, or consultant) as directed by Home Office Coordination Of Educational Programs: Prepares and reviews training materials for the FMA team Responds to unsolicited inquiries about Novo Nordisks grants and charitable contributions program Reviews training of sales representatives on product knowledge and understanding of technical information within the therapeutic area Serves as mentor for new hire or more junior FMA colleagues Demonstrated Leadership: Proactively Shares better practices and knowledge with FMA team Serves as mentor for new hire or more junior FMA colleagues Understands and demonstrates the value of working with related departments such as Sales, Marketing and Medical Field-Based Clinical Support: Attends and presents in assigned medical and scientific meetings as a technical lead: a) maintains knowledge of the latest issues and new data pertaining to NNI products; b) develops and establishes relationships with health care providers; c) conveys appropriate use of NNI products Collaborates with Marketing and Sales management to develop scientific strategies to optimize NNIs products and development activities in the medical community Collaborates with respective HSM to provide scientific and clinical education to Chief Executives, Medical Directors and formulary stakeholders to secure proper access to Novo Nordisks products and services in respective IHNs Collaborates with trial/study investigation sites; ensuring effective coordination and facilitation of studies to ensure timely review, initiation and completion, as well as publication of study results. Provides clinical support in cooperation with other Novo Nordisk groups to ensure investigators demonstrate appropriate knowledge of studies, support patient recruitment and retention activities, answers responsive requests from investigators and provides feedback to sites to other groups Coordinates with key internal stakeholders to provide customized and dedicated system-wide clinical education and support within respective IHNs and coordinate and manage professional relations of Novo Nordisk within these Networks from an overall account management level Coordinates with regional FMA team members to ensure integrated comprehensive coverage of regional clinical and scientific needs Develops and presents product and scientific updates as requested, including Formulary presentations within IHNs, using approved material Establishes and maintains functional working relationships with Clinical Research Associates within the region to further scientific exchange Identifies and facilitates submission of potential Pharmaco-Economic and Outcomes Research-type studies and investigator-sponsored studies from the IHNs and refer requests for research grants to the appropriate in-house review committees as directed. Physical Requirements 50-75% overnight travel required; Driver must maintain a valid driver's license. Must be in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records. Territory is AZ, NV, UT, NM.

Qualifications Doctoral degree required A minimum of five years experience in a health related system, pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment, including four years demonstrated success in a field medical liaison role required Relevant clinical and/or therapeutic experience preferred Displays business acumen/knowledge based on experiences such as participation in formulary process decisions Strong communication and collaboration skills required
