Position Overview

The Internal Medicine Core Faculty physician is pivotal in the training, oversight, and professional growth of Internal Medicine residents and medical students within our organization. This full-time role involves direct clinical instruction in an outpatient continuity clinic and participation in scheduled inpatient supervision. The position encompasses clinical duties, structured educational activities, program governance, and scholarly involvement. Additionally, the faculty member will manage an active patient panel and uphold the mission, values, and academic standards of the residency program.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Teaching

• Oversee and instruct residents and medical students in the outpatient continuity clinic, Monday through Friday, from 08:00 to 17:00.
• Maintain a personal panel of internal medicine patients for continuity of care.
• Engage in inpatient teaching assignments as scheduled.
• Provide remote supervision for after-hours clinic calls.
• Support resident education during weekly didactic sessions held on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 17:00.

Academic Leadership

• Deliver didactic lectures, facilitate case-based learning, and conduct skills-based teaching.
• Contribute to academic planning, curriculum development, and ongoing enhancement of the residency program.
• Mentor residents, assist with personalized learning plans, and exemplify professional growth.

Program Governance

• Participate in the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) to evaluate resident performance and readiness for progression.
• Engage in the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC) to inform curriculum assessment and program quality improvement.
• Provide timely written and verbal evaluations of residents and medical students.

Scholarly & Community Engagement

• Participate in scholarly activities such as research, quality improvement projects, case reports, publications, or other academic contributions.
• Supervise and educate residents during community rotations or mobile health unit activities.
• Encourage evidence-based practices and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency program.
• Unrestricted medical license from the Medical Board of California (or eligibility to obtain one).
• Current board certification in Internal Medicine (ABIM).
• Clinical experience in comprehensive outpatient internal medicine and adult inpatient care.
• Proven experience in teaching residents and/or medical students.
• Eligibility for hospital privileges in outpatient internal medicine and inpatient adult medicine.
• Current ACLS certification.
• A strong dedication to education, scholarly activities, and delivering high-quality patient care.
