Legal Entity: AECOM Technical Services Inc Business Line: Water Work Location Model: Hybrid Primary Location: US - New Orleans, LA - 1555 Poydras Compensation: USD 75,000 - USD 130,000 - yearly Job Description The Central Civil Works Department is growing quickly, and we are looking for a General Civil Engineer who enjoys design of new and rehabilitated flood risk management systems, locks and dams, floodwalls, navigation floodgates, stormwater pumping stations, outfalls, spillways, and ecosystem restoration. Our clients include private, local, national and global organizations, including water utilities and drainage authorities throughout the United States. Job Duties Design: Develop quantities, plans, specifications, cost estimates, construction schedules, technical reports, and other project documents; utilize standard techniques, procedures, and criteria while gaining an understanding of advanced methods of construction and innovative solutions for flood risk management projects from planning through construction. Construction Cost Estimate and Schedule: Assist and be mentored by our expert construction cost estimator and scheduler; learn to use software like MII/MCACES and Primavera; perform quantity takeoffs, price labor, equipment and materials, develop indirect cost models, calculate escalation, and produce total project cost rollups. Collaborate: Coordinate with multiple disciplines on projects to determine the best civil design. Deliver Quality: Oversee and review work produced by others and follow all quality control measures to ensure timely and accurate results. Explore and Harness: Seek opportunities to innovate and trial new methods. Peer Reviews and Site Visits: Perform peer reviews, conduct site visits at active construction sites, and examine field conditions. Support Proposals and Presentations: Assist with proposals, presentations, and design charrettes as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field and 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent. Professional Engineer license in one US state and ability to obtain other state licenses via reciprocity; NCEES profile is a plus. Experience with Bentley OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D. Valid Driver’s License required. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing flood risk management projects. Effective communication with colleagues, contractors, and clients. Understanding of design and construction requirements for dams, locks, levees, channels, rivers, sediment control features, etc. Experience on federal projects for agencies like USACE, USIBWC, FEMA, NRCS, etc. Experience with MII/MCACES or Excel-based estimating platforms.
