Schmidt Associates is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead project grading, drainage, stormwater, and utility design efforts across a variety of project types. This role will serve as a technical leader and mentor within the civil engineering team, coordinating multidisciplinary projects while ensuring design excellence, quality standards, and client satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver with strong technical expertise, project leadership experience, and a passion for mentoring emerging professionals. Responsibilities Lead civil engineering design for site development projects including grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and erosion control. Coordinate civil engineering efforts with architects, landscape architects, MEPTC engineers, and external consultants. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards, budgets, and deadlines. Prepare and oversee construction documents, technical specifications, calculations, reports, permitting submissions, and cost estimates. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff and support team development. Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project planning discussions. Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction administration. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and permitting requirements. Support continuous improvement of office standards, procedures, and best practices. Contribute to business development efforts and maintain strong client relationships. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required. 8+ years of related civil engineering experience preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain licensure quickly. Strong experience with site development, grading, drainage, utility, and stormwater design. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required; Revit experience is a plus. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and mentoring staff. Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills. Familiarity with permitting processes and applicable codes/regulations.
