Associate Director Of Campus Ministry

If so, we invite you to apply for our role as Associate Director of Campus Ministry at Calvert House, the University of Chicago's Newman Center located on campus in Hyde Park.

In this position you will co-manage the day-to-day activities and functioning of Calvert House with the Director in the areas of worship, evangelization, faith formation, and you will assist in recruiting and training new student leaders.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Co-lead OCIA program with the Director
• Supervise group facilitators in the Small Group Program and assist in developing the materials
• Be present and assist at Calvert house liturgical celebrations and activities
• Recruit and train new student leaders and liturgical ministers
• Partner with local social service organizations, and coordinate special programs
• Supervise leaders and coordinate activities of the Catholic Student Association
• Lead sessions and maintain confidential records on VIRTUS training and other functions associated with the Office of Protections of Children and Youth
• Inform students of Calvert House activities through announcements, flyers, weekly emails to the list host, website and calendar updates, and contribute to the periodic newsletter
• Development and coordination of liturgical minister training programs as well as evangelization and faith formation programs on campus
• Assist in strategic plan development for Calvert House
• Cooperate with other campus ministers at the University of Chicago
• Network with campus ministry organizations
• Act as University recognized religious advisor for the RSOs at Calvert House
• Participate in orientation events.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Scripture, Ministry, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and substantial demonstrated experience in Catholic catechesis, OCIA leadership, or faith formation will also be considered.
• Teaching experience at the high school level or above is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.

• Committed to and demonstrating a thorough understanding, respect, and support of the Catholic Church's teachings, mission, and values.
• Familiarity with Catholic Scripture scholarship and the Lectionary tradition.
• Knowledge of the OCIA process, the Rite of Christian Initiation, and the liturgical year.
• Experience in adult faith formation, catechesis, or small group ministry.
• Ability to communicate complex theological ideas accessibly to a highly educated secular audience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build genuine relationships with students.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a ministry team environment.
• Proficiency with standard office technology (MS Word, email, calendar systems).
• VIRTUS or comparable safe environment training, or willingness to complete prior to beginning work.

This position has an annualized salary range of $53,466.00 - $65,472.00. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location and organizational needs.
