The role functions as part of the operations and maintenance of a water and wastewater treatment facility under the direction of the Project Manager. Responsibilities include routine, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance tasks assigned by the project’s maintenance program. Responsibilities Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities and sewer collection systems. Carry out all maintenance assignments as outlined in the preventive maintenance and repair program. Perform housekeeping duties in the maintenance department and on maintenance vehicles. Adhere to safety, operating, and emergency response procedures. Operate plant equipment such as aerators, filters, pumps, lift stations, aeration basins, anoxic basins, instrumentation, motors, clarifiers, chemical feed systems, blowers, mixers, generators, lighting, chlorinators, rake drives, bar screens, storage tanks, meters, air compressors, sludge dewatering equipment, and other related components. Maintain and adjust plant equipment to ensure compliance with operating permits. Perform daily checks of the facility to document operational status and maintenance requirements. Participate in an on‑call rotation on weekends, holidays, and outside normal workday hours. Respond to emergencies or unpredicted situations as required. Qualifications High school or trade school diploma required; coursework in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance is a plus. Minimum seven years of experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment. Knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office, computerized maintenance programs, and databases including SCADA. Experience with pumps, compressors, and plumbing fixtures. Valid driver’s license. Working knowledge of methods, tools, and materials used in development, construction, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment employed in wastewater treatment and collection systems. Knowledge of the National Electric Code and programmable logic controllers. Ability to perform varied mechanical skills, including welding; read and update technical manuals, drawings, and specifications. Record keeping using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Troubleshoot electromechanical control systems; calibrate process control instrumentation; install electrical conduit and plumbing. Work independently and under pressure with competing demands. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in wastewater treatment. Effective communication orally and in writing.
