Job Description Job Summary The Master Production Planner , based in Minnetonka, MN, is the central manufacturing coordinator responsible for ensuring the feasibility of the high-level supply plan by monitoring capacity, maintaining constraints, and aligning with material availability and delivery commitments. They orchestrate the plant planning process, balancing customer needs with operational capabilities for optimal resource use and cost. The role involves translating the master schedule into detailed operational plans (creating work orders, scheduling production runs, and generating purchase requisitions), and managing daily production by monitoring the shop floor, making real-time adjustments, and ensuring efficient execution. Duties & Responsibilities: Maintain and analyze capacity requirements and constraints by evaluating resource utilization, identifying bottlenecks, and recommending capacity adjustments or alternative production strategies Optimize and manages raw material and WIP inventory levels by establishing safety stock targets, monitoring inventory turnover, and balancing carrying costs against stockout risks to minimize working capital while ensuring material availability Manage the impact of engineering changes (ECOs), customer revisions, and supply disruptions on the master schedule; communicate and coordinate updates across stakeholders Drive and maintain planning parameter master data and ensure BOM and routing accuracy for scheduling purposes. Monitor key performance indicators and provide strategic insights by tracking schedule adherence, delivery performance, inventory and VCP metrics to drive continuous improvement in planning processes Translate master production schedules into daily production plan - collaborate with cross-functional teams and collect their input about risks and ad-hoc constraints Coordinate material requirements planning by ensuring raw materials, components, and packaging are available when needed, working closely with cross-functional teams to synchronize material flow with production schedules. Create detailed production schedules by sequencing specific jobs and operations on individual machines or work centers, considering setup times, processing durations, and resource constraints to optimize throughput Order data management, utilize planning systems to identify potential late orders, work to mitigate when possible and update order dates in the ERP to maintain the ERP as the real time source of truth to provide visibility to others internally and externally. Coordinate with production teams and operators by communicating daily priorities, work assignments, and schedule changes to ensure smooth execution of manufacturing operations Manage capacity allocation and resource utilization by balancing workloads across available equipment and personnel, optimizing machine utilization while minimizing idle time and overtime costs Respond to production disruptions by quickly rescheduling operations around equipment breakdowns, material shortages, or quality issues to minimize impact on overall production targets Lead cycle counting and inventory accuracy initiatives for the areas they support Qualifications Qualifications/Requirements: College Degree in Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain and Operations Management, or related major (or High School diploma with at least 5 years of planning or related supply chain work experience) At least 3 years or more of planning or relevant supply chain work experience Preferred: System Proficiency: Expertise in ERP systems (preferably SAP, Kinaxis Maestro, and/or Planet Together) and advanced computer skills, including Google Sheets, Docs, Slides or Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze large datasets, ASCM CPIM - Certified in Production and Inventory Planning. Results & Service Orientation: A focus on customer service and results, problem-solving abilities, high sense of urgency, and attention to detail. Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for effective relationship building with stakeholders. Leadership & Initiative: Experience in leading projects to completion, the ability to provide direction through influence, and a proactive, self-starter approach. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity.
