Project Director - Mechanical Construction (Piping, Plumbing, HVAC) - North Carolina

Gryphon Oakwood are representing a rapidly growing, nationally recognized mechanical construction firm to identify a Project Director to join its Project Management leadership team in Missouri.

Our client is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in fabrication, installation, modification, and ongoing service of complex mechanical systems , including:

• Process piping
• Power piping
• Boiler making
• Industrial equipment installation
• Industrial ventilation
• HVAC systems

The Project Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for large-scale mechanical construction projects. This individual will oversee project teams, ensure financial performance, maintain strong client relationships, and drive project execution from preconstruction through completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee complex mechanical construction projects involving HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping systems from project initiation through completion.
• Provide leadership and direction to project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
• Review construction documents and communicate critical information to project teams.

• Monitor project financial performance and ensure projects meet or exceed budget and profitability targets .
• Track and report key performance indicators including schedule adherence, productivity, and cost performance .
• Provide regular project performance updates to executive leadership.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors .
• Represent the company in client meetings and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work closely with the Design and Engineering teams to develop effective execution strategies and project plans.
• Lead internal and external project coordination meetings to align stakeholders and maintain project momentum.
• Ensure strict compliance with site safety protocols and quality standards .
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all project teams.

Experience

• 8+ years of experience in one of the following roles:
• Senior Mechanical Project Manager
• Mechanical Project Director
• Similar leadership role within mechanical construction
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale mechanical construction projects .
• Strong understanding of: Mechanical piping systems, HVAC systems, Industrial mechanical construction
• Experience managing projects with large mechanical scopes and complex coordination requirements .
