Special Program Para 2, ISEP 1:1 18415-2026 Discovery Middle School - Vancouver, Washington Job Details Job ID: 5801179 Application Deadline: Sep 30, 2026 5:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time) Starting Date: Immediately Job Description Special Program Paraeducator 2, Integrated Social Emotional Program (ISEP) 6 hours per day, 9 months per year. This is a one‑on‑one position. Fair Labor Standards Act Status: Non‑Exempt. Essential Functions Provide individualized support to students and assist the teacher in implementing and evaluating goals and objectives on individual IEPs. Manage behavior and assist students during class activities in small groups or individually. Support students with moderate to severe disabilities across a range of academic and life‑skills areas. Observe, record, and communicate student behavior and data to teachers and other service providers. De‑escalate students having an emotional/behavioral crisis and carry out behavior management plans. Prepare materials, assist with data entry, grading, and record keeping as directed by certificated staff. Attend required training, including CPI, de‑escalation/physical restraint, and weekend mandatory sessions. Maintain confidentiality, exhibit flexible scheduling, and be a positive role model. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Associate’s Degree, 90 quarter or 60 semester credits from an accredited institution, or an ETS ParaPro Assessment result of 461 or higher. One year of related experience working with children in an educational setting. Successful experience as part of an educational team. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and conflict‑resolution skills. Experience working with children with moderate to severe disabilities (preferred). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effectively communicate with and appreciate individuals from diverse socio‑economic backgrounds. Respond to evasive or aggressive student behavior. Attend weekend training and successfully complete district CPI and de‑escalation/physical restraint training. Use computer equipment and adaptive technologies. Implementation of educational programs and student behavior management under teacher guidance. Maintain confidentiality and adapt to assigned tasks and schedules. Develop relationships and supportive roles with children who have mental or physical disabilities. Other Requirements Lift, move, and physically restrain a child of the required size. Escort students safely around the school building and grounds independently. Observe student behavior, record data, and communicate observations to appropriate service providers. Maintain regular attendance to meet program requirements. Benefits/Compensation Salary range: $27.78 to $33.42 per hour. New employees start at the minimum hourly rate; experience credit may apply for prior service in similar occupations. Retirement benefits through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) are available based on FTE.
