Business Development Director

Amentum is seeking a Director, Business Development who will lead or support the Strategic Business Unit's (SBU's) business development efforts in the DOE and NNSA tier 2 market. Essential Responsibilities Lead business development efforts; coordinate workloads, priorities, and schedules to ensure timely and effective completion of work; monitor and evaluate staff performance. Work with SBE General Managers and others inside and outside the organization to develop business development objectives, strategies, and plans for the SBU/SBE(s). Participate in planning for future development and growth of the SBU. Prepare SBU/SBE business development plans and present them for review and approval at the SBE, SBU and/or corporate levels. Explore, research, and recommend teaming agreements, joint ventures, acquisitions, and/or sales of assets. Conduct long‑range planning aimed at developing new business targets and proposals. Develop and implement effective business development campaigns to obtain new sales or increase sales with current customers. Maintain and develop an effective list of business development contacts. Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the proposal office and define business development responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities throughout the SBU. Participate in the proposal preparation process. Define and develop proposal strategies, themes, discriminators, and formats. Identify cost, resource, and schedule requirements. Develop and maintain a comprehensive database on competitors and potential teaming partners, including capabilities, cost information, and business strategies. Track, monitor, and report on submitted and pending bids and approaching business opportunities. Appraise and evaluate lost bids and recommend ways to improve the SBU's win rate. Report on business development results, issues, and concerns. Represent the organization in its relationships with customers, teaming partners, competitors, government agencies, professional affiliations, and community organizations. Ensure that all business development activities comply with internal policies, practices, laws, and regulations. Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Bachelor's degree in a related field. 15 years of progressive business development experience. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Deep understanding of government contracting/customers and the proposal process. Strong executive presence, creativity, forward‑looking mindset, clear thinker and decision‑maker, and change agent. Proven track record of continuous business development activities. Master's degree preferred. Travel required. Possibility of obtaining and maintaining a Security Clearance.
