Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (Occupational Health/Primary Care)

Location: El Paso, TX

Position Type: 1099 Independent Contractor

Shifts: 3 days a week (20 hours per week) - Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-4:00 PM

Specialty: Occupational Health/Primary Care - DOT & VA Examinations

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide high-quality outpatient healthcare services, with a primary focus on occupational health, DOT physical examinations, VA examinations, primary care, and chronic disease management. The NP will evaluate adult patients, perform comprehensive physical examinations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and develop individualized treatment plans.

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including medical histories, vital signs, physical examinations, assessment of acute and chronic conditions, and appropriate clinical documentation in the EHR.

2. Perform DOT and VA examinations, occupational health assessments, and other required physical examinations while ensuring compliance with applicable federal and clinical standards.

3. Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD, infections, and other common adult health conditions; prescribe medications and establish appropriate treatment plans within state scope-of-practice requirements.

4. Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic services including laboratory testing, medical imaging, spirometry, and other appropriate diagnostic evaluations; document diagnoses using appropriate ICD and billing codes.

5. Provide patient education and care coordination, including counseling on medications, disease management, preventive health, nutrition, lifestyle modifications, referrals, and follow-up care.

6. Maintain quality, regulatory, and clinical standards by completing accurate medical records, following HIPAA and infection-control requirements, participating in quality-improvement activities, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals as needed.

   
   Qualifications & Experience:

• Master's degree or higher from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.

• Minimum 1-2 years of Nurse Practitioner clinical experience.

• Experience in outpatient primary care, occupational health, urgent care, family practice, internal medicine, or a related clinical setting preferred.

• Experience performing physical examinations and managing adult acute and chronic conditions.

• Experience with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and clinical documentation.

• Experience with DOT examinations and/or occupational medicine is required

License & Certifications:

• Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the applicable state.

• Current national NP certification through an appropriate certifying body.

• BLS certification.

• DEA registration.

• FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (DOT Medical Examiner) certification - candidate must successfully complete the required examination before starting. The clinic can assist with registration.

• VA Training - required; training will be provided by the clinic.

Other Details:

• 1099 independent contractor position.

• No sign-on bonus.

• No relocation assistance.

• Benefits are not included as this is a 1099 position.
