Director of Operations

We are looking for a Director of Operations to lead a growing construction company in the Shallotte, North Carolina area, ideally situated between Wilmington and Myrtle Beach. About the Role This individual will have ownership of the local operation, including team leadership, financial performance, operational execution, and continued growth. The role is ideal for someone who wants the autonomy and responsibility of running a business while having the resources and support of a larger organization. Direct construction experience is not required. We are primarily looking for a strong operator and leader who can learn the business quickly, build credibility with the team, and drive results. Responsibilities Business Performance Own the overall performance of the operation, including revenue, profitability, and execution. Manage the P&L and understand the key drivers of financial performance. Establish operating priorities and translate company goals into action. Identify opportunities to improve productivity, margins, and overall performance. Lead, coach, and develop the local team. Establish clear expectations and create a culture of accountability. Develop existing team members while identifying future talent needs. Build an environment where people understand what is expected and have the support needed to perform. Operational Execution Maintain visibility into day-to-day operations without becoming the bottleneck. Identify and solve problems across people, process, and execution. Create consistent operating rhythms and performance standards. Ensure the organization is positioned to support continued growth. Growth Help expand the company's presence throughout the surrounding market. Identify opportunities to increase revenue and strengthen customer relationships. Ensure the team and operating infrastructure scale alongside the business. Take ownership of both current performance and the long-term potential of the operation. Qualifications We are looking for a proven leader who has owned meaningful outcomes and knows how to drive performance through people. Construction experience is not required; leadership ability, business acumen, and operational ownership are more important. Required Skills Experience leading teams in an operational environment. A track record of improving performance and developing people. The ability to quickly learn an unfamiliar business or industry. Strong communication and decision-making skills. A high level of ownership, initiative, and follow-through. Comfort operating with autonomy and being accountable for results. Preferred Skills None specified.
