Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT)

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) performs computed tomography (CT) scans, utilizes superconducting magnets for medical imaging, and utilizes contrast media, power injectors, and PACS. They balance the needs of patients and staff while performing complex scans and procedures. They gather relevant information from medical records, significant others, and health care providers, assess factors that may contraindicate procedures, and perform first aid and basic life support procedures as they relate to radiography. They check the system for operation and assess acceptable performance based on established guidelines, monitor patient's clinical record, diagnosis, and laboratory results, and monitor patient's psychologic changes during the procedure to keep the radiologist informed. They utilize tact, diplomacy, and courtesy in dealings with the customer base, staff, family, visitors, and volunteers. They recognize unusual images and determine proper positioning to best demonstrate areas of interest, determine technical adequacy of digital images, adjust the image quality in the digital system, as needed, follow radiation protection standards, utilize minimum radiographic exposure techniques, appropriate beam limitation to anatomical area, and employ lead shielding, when performing standard radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. They utilize computed radiography, CR readers, and digital imaging systems.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM
