Materials CoordinatorThe Materials Coordinator is responsible for supporting the efficient flow of materials, tooling, supplies, and outsourced processes throughout the machine shop. This role coordinates shipping, receiving, inventory control, material movement, and production support activities to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and finished product while maintaining inventory accuracy and organization. The Materials Coordinator works cross-functionally with machining, quality, purchasing, and administration to support production schedules and customer requirements.Responsibilities:Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, including proper packaging, labeling, shipping methods, and required documentationReceive, inspect, verify, and distribute incoming materials, tooling, and supplies to appropriate departmentsVerify incoming materials against purchase orders, packing slips, and job requirements; communicate discrepancies as neededSupport material flow throughout the facility to ensure production jobs are properly staged and prioritizedMaintain accurate inventory records within ERP systems and assist with inventory transactions and material traceabilityPerform routine cycle counts and support physical inventory activitiesOrganize, label, stock, and maintain raw material, consumable, tooling, and finished goods inventory locationsPull and stage materials, tooling, and components for production jobs and outside processing operationsCoordinate packaging, shipping, and receiving of external processing and subcontracted workClean, package, label, and store finished or in-process product as requiredPrepare and process bills of lading, delivery receipts, certifications, and other shipping documentationAttach required documentation to shipments including certifications, SDS documentation, and customer-required paperworkOperate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficientlyAssist with maintaining shop organization, cleanliness, and 5S initiatives within inventory and shipping areasCommunicate proactively with production, purchasing, quality, and leadership regarding material shortages, delays, or inventory concernsSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory accuracy, material flow, and warehouse organizationComply with OSHA, safety, quality, and environmental requirementsPerform other duties within the scope and skill level of the position in support of department and company objectivesRequirements:Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required2+ years of experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or machine shop environment preferredExperience with shipping, receiving, inventory control, and material coordination in a manufacturing environment preferredExperience working with ERP/MRP systems such as JobBOSS preferredForklift certification and/or material handling experience preferredSkills & Competencies:Strong organizational and prioritization skillsStrong attention to detail and inventory accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work cross-functionally with multiple departmentsStrong problem-solving and follow-through abilitiesDemonstrated self-starter with ability to work independentlyBasic understanding of manufacturing workflows and production schedulingProficient in Microsoft Office and manufacturing ERP systemsUnderstanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles preferredPhysical Requirements:Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
