Field Laborer

Position Summary The Field Laborer performs outside field duties for the cemetery maintaining a high level of care and performs all work meeting or exceeding safety standards. Compensation Non‑Exempt hourly pay ranging from $17.00 - $20.00 based on experience. Location St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon, Ohio 44011 32789 Detroit Rd., Avon, Ohio 44011 Key Responsibilities Prepares graves and maintains cemetery grounds. Performs snow removal Performs landscaping including trimming grass/weeds, pruning trees and shrubbery, mowing grass. Operates variety of equipment including mowers, string trimmers, Cushman, backhoe, dump truck tractor, bed edger, hedge trimmer and chain saw. Positions casket‑lowering device on grave and covers dirt pile and sod with artificial grass carpet. Erects tent/canopy and arranges folding chairs to prepare site for burial service as well as removal of sod from grave‑site. Prepares ground for burial including locating grave site by section, lot, and plot numbers. Mark area to be excavated. Prepare grave‑site by digging grave to specified depth of 59 inches, places vault, places foundation grave marker and sets grave marker in concrete on grave‑site. Opens and closes mausoleum vaults. Ensures all work is completed in adherence to safety policies and guidelines. Maintains a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets in the field, vehicles, shop, and worksites. Education & Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Valid driver’s license required Clean Driving RecordAbility to be DISC insured. 6 months or more related experience, training or equivalent combination of education and experience Competencies Ability to kneel, bend, pull weeds by hand around bushes, trees and flower beds Ability to operate heavy machinery such as dump truck, backhoe High level of customer service Excellent oral communication Ability to read and interpret written information Ability to observe safety and security procedures Physical Demands Ability to lift or move up to 75 pounds Ability to occasionally lift and or move more than 100 pounds Ability to stand, walk, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, use of hands and arms Work Environment Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
