Job Description

Job Summary:

Sterile Processing Tech I performs the cleaning, decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and storage of reusable medical instruments to support surgical services. The role also prepares case carts for the OR and may assist with tray assembly as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using established infection control procedures.
• Inspect instruments for completeness, function, and cleanliness prior to processing or release.
• Assemble, prepare, and manage case cart components to support timely OR turnover.
• Sterilize instruments using appropriate cycles and monitoring methods, including documentation.
• Store sterilized items in compliance with packaging, labeling, and storage standards.
• Support instrument tracking processes and coordinate returns to users as required.

Qualifications:

• Hold and maintain a current sterile processing credential at hire (CRCST or CSPDT).
• Maintain required specialty certifications at hire (IASCHM, CBSPD, HSPA).
• Earn a robotics rating of 3 or above and demonstrate competency with robotics-related workflows.
• Complete a minimum of 5 years of sterile processing experience in a high-volume environment.
• Demonstrate experience working in Level II Trauma or a comparable facility setting.
• Use Epic charting effectively (Epic experience is a hard stop requirement).
