Adventure Based Program Manager

Job Abstract The Adventure Program Manager is central to the oversight, coordination and delivery of community based Adventure Therapy/Experiential Learning programming. The program serves youth involved with the Departments of Children and Families, Developmental Services and Mental Health. Adventure Programs provide adaptive programming for neurodivergent youth and adults. The WILLD program is a community-based adventure therapy program funded by the Department of Public Health, providing intervention and treatment for youth/young adults at risk for or currently involved with substance use/misuse. The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing the provision of Adventure programming in the Central Massachusetts corridor. The Program Manager works with referral sources and the team to address the domains of home, school/work (as indicated) and community, helping to develop and maintain a supportive web of care. The Program Manager demonstrates a commitment to the empowerment of children, families, and adolescents to realize their potential, incorporating the agency philosophy of systemic thinking and using resources from the community while remaining aware of social policies and client concerns. The Program Manager facilitates the integrity of the family while ensuring the safety of all family members. The Program Manager works with the Director and Coordinator to manage program service delivery; budget; staff training and supervision; and other Division Leadership responsibilities. This position will supervise the Program Coordinator, Case Managers and oversee the program development, implementation, and data collection of the WILLD program. The Program Manager will help create structures for an updated Operations Manual and program accreditation, including but not limited to COA. The role sits on the Extended Leadership Team as a middle manager. Responsibilities Oversee the coordination of all Adventure services provided by LUK and directly provide program implementation of the WILLD program. Provide clinical work, including group, individual and family/couples therapy as indicated. Supervise the Program Coordinator, Case Managers and program staff, evaluating and disciplining staff as needed. Participate in program grant writing, model development and implementation. Participate in hiring/firing decisions concerning program staff, making recommendations to the Component Director. Oversee program risk management protocols, including safety and gear inspection, trip planning, evacuation procedures, and staff‑client ratios. Develop mechanisms to promote client and community involvement within the program. Balance program outcome needs with fiscal management, including participation in budget development and review. Ensure timely and thorough completion and submission of all required documentation by staff, including billing. Partner with Finance to ensure consistent operation of billing structures and functions. Lead agency staff to ensure successful development, implementation and achievement of program outcomes, and promote quality assurance activities. Market and promote the services. Provide crisis management and intervention as appropriate. Qualifications Master’s degree in Human Services, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or closely related field; or be on a MA track. Five years of experience working with children, adolescents, families and at‑risk youth. Supervision and/or management experience required. LMHC, LMFT or LCSW preferred, or on a licensing track. Bilingual/bicultural candidates encouraged. Skills and Abilities Cultural responsiveness. Strong communication and computer skills. Experience with Adventure Therapy programming and providing therapy/therapeutic intervention. AWFA/WFR preferred. Able to work independently and collaboratively on a team. Internet access for remote work. Driver’s license and reliable and safe transportation. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $66,000 – $71,250. Salary ranges within each pay grade are based on qualifications, skills, and experience. The Program Manager will work within the CFSS Division and have access to office space in Boylston. The role requires community-based travel and implementation. The work schedule must accommodate participant needs and program delivery. The position is 40 hours per week, full‑time.
