Senior Mobile Inspector - Kansas City, Missouri

Location Kansas City, MO Summary A Sr. Mobile Inspector functions as an advanced member of the Manheim mobile inspections team for a designated region with the primary responsibilities of conducting vehicle condition inspections on a client's lot. The core skill is to provide accurate and complete documentation of overall vehicle condition within the parameters of a Manheim inspection. This position builds trust with clients, engages to help them see the value in the Manheim Marketplace, and requests more inventory to be inspected by providing quality and timely inspections. As a Sr. Mobile Inspector, this role is expected to work with little guidance, solve problems with minimal oversight, and assist junior inspectors as they gain inspection experience and build client relationships. Primary Duties & Key Responsibilities Conduct a thorough vehicle inspection at an expert level. Locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer/clients' lot safely. Verify vehicle identification and enter accurate vehicle information into the inspection system, correcting VIN, mileage, and sub series. Inspect vehicle equipment and options, documenting results including damage, missing or inoperable items. Inspect and record vehicle exterior conditions, including tires, frame, glass, panels, and mechanical components. Inspect and record the vehicle interior condition, including seats, dashboard, and options. Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles including powertrain, drivetrain, and electrical components. Assist lower-level mobile inspectors with complex inspections and client relationships. Prepare and provide daily activity reports for management. Pivot and adapt to changes in daily appointments to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of each dealer visit. Develop strong knowledge of clients in territory and work collaboratively to keep them active with Manheim mobile inspections through regular, proactive on-lot engagement. Leverage data and insights from partners to maximize volume of units inspected on dealer lots. Represent Cox Automotive as a brand ambassador, providing premier client experience by interfacing regularly with core clients and ensuring satisfaction. Work closely with the Wholesale Specialist team, peers, other Manheim workgroups and auctions. Utilize SalesForce.com for reporting, lead input and customer performance reviews. Understand NAAA Frame/Structure Damage Policy. Work in a continuous improvement/Lean environment and drive a lean culture. Maintain production expectations set by the leader. Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling related behaviors. Actively participate in safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence. Other duties as assigned. Required Experience & Skills High School Diploma/GED and 3+ years of related automotive experience. Previous vehicle inspection experience and automotive knowledge, body and mechanical preferred. 2-3 years of any automotive-related experience strongly preferred. 1 year of service with Manheim Inspections recommended. Valid driver's license and safe driving record required. Travel 100%; reliable transportation required. Reimbursement program dependent on number of miles driven. Good communication and interpersonal skills required. Strong technical aptitude. Detail-oriented and able to multitask, follow directions, and take instructions. Experience navigating handheld devices preferred. Motivation to work independently with remote supervision. Body, paint, and mechanical repair knowledge helpful; familiarity with unibody and full-frame helpful. Physical ability to lift and hold at least 30 lbs at waist level and to bend, crouch, kneel, and reach under vehicles. Near vision ability to identify exterior or interior damage, color identification, and to work under different lighting conditions. Physical and mental ability to execute duties within required timeframes. Compensation Hourly pay rate: $16.88 – $25.34 per hour. Rate may vary by location and candidate experience. Eligible for an annual incentive/commission target of $6,000.
