Grill Cook

The Grill Cook is responsible for preparing fresh, made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items while providing exceptional quality, consistency, and speed of service. This position plays an important role in creating a positive dining experience by preparing guest orders accurately, maintaining an organized grill station, and working collaboratively with the kitchen team. The Grill Cook upholds Der Dutchman's standards of hospitality, cleanliness, food safety, and excellence in every meal served.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook made-to-order breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Ensure all food is cooked to the proper internal temperature and served fresh, hot, and attractively presented.
• Read and prepare guest tickets accurately while maintaining timely service during peak meal periods.
• Set up, stock, and maintain the grill station before, during, and after each shift.
• Label, date, and properly store food products according to company and health department standards.
• Maintain clean and sanitized grills, flat tops, cooking equipment, utensils, and workstations throughout the shift.
• Assist with food preparation, prep work, and other kitchen responsibilities as assigned.
• Communicate effectively with servers, expeditors, and fellow kitchen team members to ensure efficient meal service.
• Notify the Kitchen Manager of equipment issues, low inventory, or product quality concerns.
• Follow all company policies, food safety guidelines, and sanitation procedures.
• Provide support wherever needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations and an exceptional guest experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a grill cook or line cook preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Ability to read tickets, prioritize orders, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to providing excellent guest service.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Bend, stoop, twist, reach, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Work safely around hot cooking surfaces, open flames, steam, and commercial kitchen equipment.
• Maintain stamina during busy breakfast, lunch, and dinner service periods.
