Executive Sous Chef

What you’ll do Develop and promote a learning environment for restaurant team members focusing on cooking techniques, knife skills, time management, and accountability. Maintain appropriate staff levels based on projected sales and business needs. Cultivate open, authentic dialogue with the restaurant team, senior leaders, and home office partners. Practice proactive performance management with the General Manager (and HR when necessary) to ensure adherence to employment policies and procedures. Keep up with current food trends through research and partnership with vendors. Assist the Executive Chef with daily, weekly, and monthly specials and menu development. Minimize employee turnover by hiring qualified people, orienting new employees, setting clear performance expectations, coaching, and providing constructive feedback. Facilitate implementation of company learning and training programs, follow‑up, and monitor performance to ensure transfer of learned skills on the job. Responsible for achieving or exceeding kitchen financial expectations (food cost, efficiencies, labor costs, direct kitchen expenses). Qualifications Ability to lift and/or move up to approximately 50 pounds frequently. Regular bending, stooping, and kneeling required. Routine standing for the duration of the shift. Capability to safely maneuver equipment such as hand carts, blenders, knives, slicers, wine keys, and other tools. Work shifts scheduled based on business needs.
