Job Description

A Critical Care ICU Nurse provides direct and individualized nursing care using scientific nursing principles in a hospital setting. The role involves critical assessment and the implementation of patient care plans, ensuring optimum care for critically ill patients.

Responsibilities

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepare and administer medications, recording prescribed dosages accurately.
• Provide bedside care, monitoring vital signs and patient conditions.
• Educate patients and families on managing their conditions, including post-treatment care and rehabilitation.
• Record patient medical information and assist in the interpretation of diagnostic tests.
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols.
• Monitor specialized equipment and respond to any adverse symptomatology indicated by monitoring devices.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
• NIHSS certification.
• Valid professional nursing license in the state of practice or under a nurse licensure compact.
• Critical care experience in a hospital setting.
• Additional requirements for compact license include verification of suicide training and demographic data through Nursys e-Notify.
• Proof of right to work in the United States.
