Work Environment

This position is based onsite, operating from our home care facility in New York City. You will engage with patients in a variety of settings, providing care that aligns with both clinical guidelines and patient needs. The role requires a work commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner, your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting thorough physical examinations of patients and reviewing their medical histories.
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests including blood tests and X-rays, to assess orthopedic conditions accurately.
• Diagnosing orthopedic injuries and illnesses, establishing treatment plans that may include physical therapy, medication, or referrals to orthopedic specialists.
• Prescribing medications as necessary while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Providing patient education on health conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures, ensuring patients and their families are informed and involved in the care process.
• Documenting patient encounters meticulously in electronic medical records to maintain accurate and up-to-date health information.
• Collaborating with team members to refine patient treatment protocols and improve service delivery.
• Participating in clinical education and research activities to enhance professional development and contribute to the greater medical community.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients dealing with a variety of orthopedic issues, from acute injuries to chronic conditions. You will work closely with individuals at different stages of life, emphasizing a holistic approach to care that enhances their functional abilities and quality of life. Your role as a health educator will be vital in guiding patients through understanding their diagnoses and the importance of adherence to treatment plans.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:

• A valid Nurse Practitioner license in the state of New York.
• A Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Nurse Practitioner.
• ANP or FNP certification.
• A valid DEA number.
• Extensive clinical experience in primary care or orthopedics, demonstrating proficiency in patient assessments and treatment protocols.
• Knowledge of pertinent health regulations and standards of care.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, the following will be considered advantageous:

• Bilingual proficiency in languages other than English.
• Experience in a collaborative clinical environment or in the management of a diverse patient population.
• Specialized training or certifications in orthopedics or pain management.
• Previous experience in acute care settings such as hospitals or emergency rooms.

Compensation and Benefits
