Position Summary A school nurse's aide provides essential support to the school nurse by managing daily student health needs, administering basic first aid, and documenting visits. They work under the supervision of a licensed nurse, administering medication, assisting with health screenings, and maintaining clinic records to ensure student safety. In all aspects, they support school nurses in promoting a safe and healthy learning environment for all students. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Current First Aid and CPR/AED certification Preferred Qualifications Experience with children, preferably in a school or healthcare setting Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred REPORTS TO Building Nurse and Health Coordinator GENERAL REQUIREMENTS Board Policy for Staff Conduct Essential Functions And Key Responsibilities Administer basic first aid for injuries and illnesses. Give, document, and manage doctor-approved medication for students. Assist students with conditions like diabetes, asthma, or allergies (e.g., blood glucose monitoring). Document daily health office visits, injuries, and communicable diseases. Act as a liaison between the school, parents, and health providers, notifying parents of serious injuries or illnesses. Support the school nurse with vision, hearing, or scoliosis screenings. Maintain inventory of health office supplies and ensure a clean environment. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Health Coordinator, Building Principal and other Central Office administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Terms Of Employment 186.5 days; 8.0 hrs / day. Does not include a 30 minute lunch. Starting at $16.81 and commensurate up to Step 7 with verification of previous years relevant work experience.
