This role supports a cleanroom-based manufacturing operation focused on chemical compounding, batching, and blending. The cleanroom technician prepares and monitors batches using various types of mixing equipment, ensures products meet quality standards, and maintains a strong focus on safety, productivity, and compliance. The position involves working with silicones and other chemical materials in a clean, climate-controlled environment and requires comfort with physical work, chemical handling, and the use of a respirator.

• Prepare, monitor, and adjust batches using various types of mixing and blending equipment in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
• Follow batch sheets and written instructions to accurately mix, blend, and compound chemical products according to established formulations and procedures.
• Load extruders by consistently lifting and handling large bags of silicone (up to 50 lbs), including lifting, bending, and pulling throughout the shift.
• Clean and maintain large mixers and related equipment, including tilting mixers forward and using tools to scrape out materials with a taffy-like consistency.
• Package finished products according to specifications, ensuring correct labeling, documentation, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
• Handle chemicals safely, following all safety protocols, personal protective equipment requirements, and respirator usage guidelines.
• Participate actively in plant safety activities and initiatives, including reporting near misses and supporting continuous safety improvements.
• Ensure compliance with ISO-9001-2000 and other applicable quality requirements by following documented procedures and maintaining accurate records.
• Use a computer to complete required training, submit maintenance requests, report near misses, and perform other job-related documentation tasks.
• Check and respond to work-related email regularly to stay informed about procedures, schedules, and safety or process updates.
• Operate a forklift and other powered industrial trucks as needed, following all safety procedures and site requirements.
• Perform basic mechanical tasks related to operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting production equipment within the manufacturing area.
• Work any of the three shifts as required, including the possibility of rotation based on business needs.
• Stand for the majority of the shift while performing production, packaging, and cleaning tasks in the manufacturing area.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support production goals, process improvements, and cross-training across multiple manufacturing departments.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and on time, including production records, quality checks, and safety documentation.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with cleanroom and manufacturing standards.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited source.
• 25 years of prior experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, ideally in chemical manufacturing, machine operation, or mechanical applications.
• Prior experience in a cleanroom, production, or chemical manufacturing setting, including compounding, batching, and blending.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions related to batch sheets, safety procedures, and operating instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math operations pertinent to batching, measuring, and recording production data.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently and perform frequent lifting, bending, and pulling throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand for the majority of the shift in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work any of three shifts, with the possibility of rotating shifts based on business needs.
• Willingness and ability to be cross-trained and execute operations in multiple manufacturing departments.
• Basic PC skills, including the ability to use a computer for training, documentation, and communication.
• Ability to speak and write independently in order to complete required paperwork and interact effectively with the team.
• Demonstrated focus on safety and process improvement in a manufacturing environment.
• General math skills for measurements, calculations, and production reporting.
• Basic mechanical skills to operate and support manufacturing equipment.
• Good reading skills to interpret batch sheets, safety documentation, and operating procedures.
• Willingness and ability to operate a forklift or other powered industrial trucks, with prior forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to wear a respirator as required, including maintaining facial hair short enough to ensure an effective respirator fit.
• Comfort working with chemicals, including mixing, blending, and handling chemical materials in a manufacturing setting.
• Open schedule availability to support different shifts as needed.
• Ability to use hand tools and related equipment safely in a production environment.

• Experience in a chemical manufacturing plant, including chemical handling, batching, and compounding.
• 35 years of manufacturing experience, preferably involving machine operation or mechanical applications.
• Prior experience working from batch sheets and process documentation in a production environment.
• Previous certification or experience operating a forklift or other powered industrial trucks.
• Experience with inspection, quality checks, and adherence to ISO-9001-2000 or similar quality standards.
• Comfort working with materials that have a taffy-like consistency and require physical effort to remove from mixers.
• Experience in cleanroom or climate-controlled manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with submitting maintenance requests and near-miss reports through computer systems.
• Willingness to relocate or commute to a manufacturing facility located in York, SC.

This position is based at a manufacturing facility in York, SC, within a clean, climate-controlled environment that includes cleanroom operations and chemical manufacturing processes. The role is physically demanding and involves standing for most of the shift, consistently lifting bags of silicone up to 50 lbs, bending, pulling, and cleaning large mixers and related equipment. Employees work with silicones and other chemical materials, including mixing, blending, and batching operations, and must be comfortable handling chemicals and wearing required personal protective equipment, including a respirator. Facial hair must be kept short enough to ensure an effective respirator fit. The standard schedule is an 8.5-hour shift, Monday through Friday. A current opening is on second shift (approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.), with initial training on day shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) for one to two months. Business needs may require assignment to second shift (2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) or third shift (10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.), although shifts do not typically change frequently. The environment includes the use of computers for training, documentation, and communication, as well as forklifts and other powered industrial trucks for material handling. Dress and personal protective equipment requirements align with cleanroom and chemical manufacturing standards, including respirator use and related grooming guidelines.

This is a Contract position based out of York, SC.

The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $21.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
