Staff Accountant

As a Staff Accountant, you’ll partner with senior management gain broad experience across accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, payroll accounting, tax support, financial reporting, and month-end close. Key Responsibilities: Manage assigned accounts payable and receivable activities, reviewing transactions for accuracy, resolving exceptions, and ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and documentation. Prepare and post journal entries; perform bank, balance sheet, and general ledger reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies. Coordinate payroll accounting activities, including validating payroll data, reconciling accounts, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining supporting documentation. Prepare information and schedules for sales, property, business, and other state and local tax filings; research issues and coordinate with internal and external resources to support timely, accurate compliance. Perform assigned monthly, quarterly, and year-end close responsibilities, including reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, schedules, and supporting analyses. Prepare financial reports, management schedules, and analyses; interpret results, identify trends or unusual activity, and communicate findings and recommendations to management. Maintain accurate, appropriately classified accounting records and supporting documentation in accordance with established practices and internal controls. Serve as a resource for accounting-related questions from clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders; evaluate requests, research issues, and provide accurate and timely guidance or resolution. Partner with other departments to obtain and evaluate financial information, resolve discrepancies, improve data integrity, and maintain accurate ERP information. Evaluate accounting processes and controls, identify opportunities to improve efficiency or accuracy, and recommend and implement improvements with appropriate stakeholder involvement. Manage assigned accounting projects and priorities with limited day-to-day supervision, using independent judgment to determine appropriate methods, resolve issues, and meet deadlines Occasional after-hours work may be required based on business needs. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or closely related field required. Experience: 2 - 4 years of progressively responsible professional accounting or finance experience. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and financial reporting. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, including the ability to analyze and organize financial data. Experience with NetSuite or another accounting or ERP system preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to financial accuracy and integrity. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to independently prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain financial information to internal and external stakeholders. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information with discretion and integrity. Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment, and collaborate effectively as part of a team. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities and a high level of accountability. Ability to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to perform the essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation. May require more than 40 hours per week to fulfill essential responsibilities.
