Job Summary The Registered Nurse I is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care. This role requires utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures to monitor and evaluate patient functional status. Job Responsibilities Utilize the nursing process to care for patients. Assess, organize, and complete patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Document steps of the nursing process using proper medical terminology. Address problems and progress toward goals. Facilitate patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources, suitable to patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors. Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate. Support unit/hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Exercise independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. Work directly with patients and/or customers. Interact with internal customers via telephone or face‑to‑face. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff. Required Skills & Experience At least one year of experience in a high acuity/critical environment (excluding ER experience). Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio‑psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Detail‑oriented approach required in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Schedule Notes Shift: Nights 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. This position requires critical care experience and the ability to adapt quickly in a 30-bed ICU unit with an average of 12–14 patients.
