Management approval required for first-time travelers. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Neonatal ICU. The facility has 247 licensed beds and is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. It is a teaching hospital and a Certified Stroke Center. The unit typically has 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3. Common patient diagnoses include: - Respiratory Distress Syndrome - Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn - Meconium Aspiration - Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia - Congenital Heart Defects - Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn - Seizures - Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy - Necrotizing Enterocolitis - Feeding Intolerance - Acute/Chronic Renal Failure - Birth Trauma - Congenital Anomalies - Sepsis Required skills include: - EPIC experience - Management of critical care vasoactive drip titration - Management of invasive lines - Aseptic and sterile techniques - Ventilator and tracheostomy management - Feeding tube and chest tube management - Epidurals and PCA management - CRRT experience - Baby side of ECMO experience Support within the department includes a unit secretary every shift, charge nurse, and 24/7 resource nurse. There are also intensivists, residents, and in-house clinical supervisors available. Technology used in this unit includes EPIC for EMR, Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps, and Philips monitors. Floating may occur to similar units as needed. Weekend rotation and holiday work is required as scheduled. Travelers should have limited RTO needs, with prior approval necessary for requests. The dress code includes navy scrubs, with specific guidelines on attire while practicing. Unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and flexibility.
