About the Position

Job Title: RN - Neonatal ICU Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment Willingness to work weekends and holidays as scheduled Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The unit has 53 beds plus overflow, with an average patient census of 58. Patient types include those with respiratory issues such as Respiratory Distress Syndrome and Meconium Aspiration. Cardiac conditions include Congenital Heart Defects and Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn. Neuro patients may present with issues like seizures and Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy. Gastrointestinal and metabolic disorders include Necrotizing Enterocolitis and congenital anomalies. Patient ratios vary by acuity, from 1:1 to 1:3. Aseptic and sterile techniques are essential, along with skills in invasive line management and ventilator care. Experience with EPIC EMR and critical care vasoactive drips is required. Team support includes a charge nurse, resource nurse, and in-house intensivists. Technology used includes Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps, Philips monitors, and PIV Ultrasound. Teamwork, trust, accountability, respect, and a compassionate work ethic are essential to the unit culture.
