MIG WelderThe MIG Welder welds Galvaneal and stainless parts. This position is responsible for quality control of their work so that high quality weldments are produced with a low rejection rate. This position must follow standard operating and safety procedures as well as ensuring that products meet customer specifications and approval requirements as detailed on the cut sheets.RequirementsEssential Job Duties:Read drawings, specifications and shop cut sheets to determine work requirements, material and equipment.Collect necessary components and parts to be welded. All surfaces should be in suitable condition for welding and the settings of the weld equipment checked.Employees will work to ensure that tasks are performed in a safe and timely manner, in accordance with specifications as detailed on cut sheets, and with completeness and accuracy.Maintain accurate counts on completed and scrapped products, record counts according to company policy.Complete Daily Production sheets to track the quantity of products produced. Turn in the completed form to the Lead person after each shift.Communicate to Lead person any problems in production and make recommendations to improve efficiency.Follow procedures that maintain high standards of operations, comply with OSHA safety requirements, and result in products that conform to specifications and quality standards.Set up, adjust, change compressed gas cylinders and perform minor maintenance on various pieces of welding equipment.Observe and follow training recommendations on the proper and safe operation of all equipment.Ensure that workstations within the department are clean, organized and free of dangerous conditions and that hazardous materials are properly stored.Alert Lead person when the supply of raw material and components begin to run low and needs to be requested/ordered.Competencies:Must be able to follow assigned tasks and keep up with the work flow and activities of others.Must be able to establish good working relationship with others and communicate effectively with management.Ability to set up and safely operate equipment.Thorough knowledge of MIG welding processes, including advanced welding techniques in a steel fabrication environment, and of welding tools and equipment.Knowledge of shop work procedures and safety policies.Must display safety conscious behavior.Ability to read and understand shop cut sheets and engineering drawings to make acceptable weldments that comply with these specifications.Competency in shop math skills including fractions and angles.Strong orientation toward thoroughness, accuracy and urgency.Ability to work in a stressful, fast-paced environment.Education and Experience Requirements:High school diploma or GED required.Vo-Tech certification in welding process or minimum of 2 years MIG welding experience.
