. This contract, on-site role offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-acuity patient care in a fast-paced critical care environment. We are looking for an associate-level clinician who is committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for critically ill patients.

As a critical care locum provider, you will collaborate with an experienced team of physicians, nurses, and specialists to assess, diagnose, and manage complex patients. Your clinical expertise will directly contribute to high-quality, patient-centered care across our critical care units, ensuring timely interventions and optimal recovery. This position is ideal for a flexible provider seeking contract work in Nashville while enhancing their practice within a supportive medical practice setting.

 

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations for critically ill patients.
• Develop, implement, and update patient care plans in coordination with the interdisciplinary team.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results.
• Prescribe medications and treatments based on clinical protocols and standards of practice.
• Monitor patient statusand respond promptly to changes, emergencies, and deteriorations.
• Perform critical care procedures and interventions within the scope of practice and licensure.
• Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly detailing assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment plans.
• Participate in daily rounds, care conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Adhere to hospital policies, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide education and support to patients and families to facilitate informed decisions.
• Collaborate with intensivists, nurses, and specialists to optimize patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license or Physician Assistant (PA) certification.
• Graduate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Associate-level experience in critical care, intensive care, or acute care settings.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and make quick, evidence-based decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed for contract coverage.
• Commitment to maintaining patient safety, confidentiality, and quality standards.

Schedule: 12-hour day or night shifts, specific dates

Daily Patient Volume: 10-20 patients

Required Procedures: Central lines, arterial lines, and intubation

Support Staff: 3 physicians and 3 APPs during the day, and 1 physician and 2 APPs at night

Must be board-certified
