Senior Systems AdministratorThis incumbent will be responsible for the daily operations of high profile production systems providing central IT services to the Georgia Center and other Public Service and Outreach division departments. This position also plays an essential role in meeting the objectives of Departmental MOUs by delivering on-demand systems administration services, including project management, technical support, training, and after-hours or remote assistance.Typical responsibilities include, but not limited to: Administration of virtual server and desktop environment, including management and provisioning of storage and virtual networking. Server installation, configuration, patching, and upgrading. Monitoring server availability and performance. Performing emergency troubleshooting and issue resolution. Performing emergency troubleshooting and problem resolution, including after hours response as part of a team on call 24×7×365. Network administration of Ethernet wired and wireless technologies, firewall/router management. End user desktop support. Develop standards and recommendations for critical functions and services, such as system configuration and backup & recovery. Develop and maintain written documentation to support the maintenance of production quality services. Working as part of a team without close supervision.Duties/Responsibilities Virtualization and Storage Administration: Administration of a VMware vCenter server cluster of approximately 65 servers (Windows and Linux appliances). Management of a VMware Horizon View Virtual Desktop Infrastructure of approximately 175 Windows 7 desktops. Software management using Unidesk software. Administration of high capacity storage area networks (Dell Compellent) and data backups using Veeam Backup and Replication along with Code 42 Crashplan backup software. Administer hypervisor management and administrative tools for virtual environments (monitoring, patching, antivirus, etc.)Duties/Responsibilities Microsoft Server Administration: Administers Windows systems that provide centralized IT services to the Georgia Center and other Public Service and Outreach division departments. Responsible for Windows systems administration, including installation of new Windows-based servers (virtual and physical), patches, specialized software, and built-in server roles and accounts. Plan, deploy, and contribute recommendations surrounding Windows server technologies in a highly complex environment, giving special attention to security issues. Services include but are not limited to: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, user management, DFS, and Microsoft Deployment Services. Develop standards and recommendations for critical functions and services such as system configuration and automated tasks. Collaborate with other team member on issues and projects. Gives attention to security issues by discussing best practices with regard to system security. Responds as needed to threats and incidents.Duties/Responsibilities End User Desktop Support: Respond to requests for service and engage in proactive computer support for users as assigned. Provide all aspects of support for desktop and laptop computers (Windows and Mac) including security, networking, peripherals, hardware, and software. Develop and deploy desktop computer images. Provide support as needed for technology enhanced classrooms, computer labs, and videoconferencing. Use a ticketing system to manage his/her time and track requests; this position will participate in a department-level helpdesk. Develop documentation, presentations, and training materials for clients and other audiences. Provide training on an as needed basis. Consult with faculty and staff and recommend appropriate IT solutions; educate clients about information security risks and keep them informed about policies and practices in IT. Provide technical support, training, and after-hours or remote assistance to other PSO Units per MOU agreements.Duties/Responsibilities Network Administration: Responsible for the configuration and management of multiple HP Procurve switches across four buildings. Responsible for the configuration and management of Dell Sonicwall firewall and security services at the network core at the Georgia Center. Responsible for the management and configuration of 100 RuckusDuties/Responsibilities Industry Specific System Support: Provide hardware and software support for Agilysys Visual One Property Management System software used by the hotel at the point of sale. Provide hardware and software support for Micros Simphony 2.x point of sale software used in food & beverage outlets. Provide hardware and software support for Visix digital signage software used throughout the conference facilities. Provide hardware and software support for the LG Pro:Centric solution for managed televisions located within throughout the Georgia Center.
