Job Description - Clinical Nurse Educator - Full Time Day (2603042) Clinical Nurse Educator - Full Time Day POSITION SUMMARY: The Nurse Educator is responsible for facilitating the development of clinical excellence through active participation in orientation, training/role transition, internships/externships, career development, continuing education/continued competence and academic partnerships. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. RESPONSIBILITIES: Utilizes principles of education, adult learning and, for nurses, bases all activities on the professional growth pathway of the Novice to Expert continuum. Responsible for the effective implementation of staff clinical orientation, competency development, and quality nursing education. Serves as a role model and resource to the nursing staff, provides consultation, and participates in the development of nursing care standards in the department. Promotes excellence in nursing as a subject matter expert of the Professional Practice Model. Creates, plans, implements and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the department. Activities to include coaching of new and experienced nursing staff, performance evaluation and growth plans completed in collaboration with management. Actively participates, communicates and serves as a positive change agent and assists in recruitment of staff. Facilitates and evaluates activities related to career development and succession planning for staff. Validates the competency of existing staff and newly hired staff and coordinates in-services, continuing education and policy revisions. REQUIREMENTS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Current licensure to practice professional nursing in New York State required. Minimum 5 years nursing experience with 2 years in acute or critical care unit. Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required. Current ACLS and PALS provider certification from the American Heart Association preferred. Prior experience as a Nurse Educator preferred. BSN is required and MSN is preferred. All Hospital positions maybe subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
