Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) / Registered Nurse (RN) – Dermatology

Location: Southampton, NY
Schedule: Full-Time (Part-Time Considered) | Monday-Friday | 8:00/8:30 AM - 4:00/4:30 PM
Compensation:

• LPN: $38-$42/hour (Negotiable based on experience)
• RN: $42-$48/hour (Negotiable based on experience)

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) to join a busy outpatient dermatology practice specializing in both medical dermatology (50%) and cosmetic dermatology (50%) . This role is ideal for a nurse who enjoys assisting physicians with procedures and delivering exceptional patient care in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The position focuses on supporting board-certified dermatologists during procedures rather than providing independent patient management. Nurses primarily assist with procedures, administer local anesthesia, and coordinate patient care. Injection of cosmetic products is not part of this role.

Full-time is preferred, though exceptional candidates seeking a 3-4 day per week schedule will also be considered. There are no routine weekends , although occasional weekend coverage may be requested for special events (typically 1-2 weekends per year).

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians during medical and cosmetic dermatology procedures.
• Prepare patients for examinations and surgical procedures.
• Set up procedure rooms and ensure appropriate equipment and supplies are available.
• Obtain and document patient histories, allergies, and informed consent.
• Administer local anesthesia and other physician-directed treatments within scope of practice.
• Educate patients on pre-operative and post-operative care.
• Perform post-procedure follow-up calls and serve as a liaison between patients and providers.
• Answer patient questions and provide telephone triage as appropriate.
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked examination and procedure rooms.
• Sterilize surgical instruments using appropriate infection control protocols.
• Photograph patients for clinical documentation when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies.
• Coordinate laboratory testing and outside diagnostic appointments as needed.
• Call in prescriptions per provider instruction.
• Participate in staff meetings, quality initiatives, and orientation of new clinical staff.
• Deliver an exceptional patient experience, including concierge-style customer service when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program.
• Current New York LPN or RN license in good standing.
• Current CPR/BCLS certification.
• At least 1 year of clinical nursing experience preferred (5+ years in a physician office is highly desirable).
• Dermatology, Mohs surgery, cosmetic dermatology, laser, or procedural experience is strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient environment.
• EMR experience preferred.
