Electrical Technician I/II

Job Description

These Electrical Technician I and II roles support the electrical engineering team building ultra long range unmanned aerial systems for the U.S. government and allied partners. The technicians turn engineering designs into working hardware, handling PCB assembly, reflow and rework, wiring harness builds and bench testing from prototype through flight-ready units.

Electrical Technician I candidates build and test hardware under the direction of senior technicians and engineers, while Electrical Technician II candidates work more independently, take on complex rework and help improve build and test processes. The roles are based on-site in Herndon, VA, in a fast-moving, venture-backed environment where designs go from fab house to flight in weeks, with occasional travel to field test locations.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assemble PCBs using surface mount and through-hole soldering techniques
\n
• Operate reflow ovens and pick-and-place equipment for prototype and low-rate production builds
\n
• Perform PCB rework and repair, including fine-pitch components
\n
• Inspect assemblies under magnification to IPC workmanship standards
\n
• Build, terminate and test wiring harnesses and cable assemblies
\n
• Work from schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings and work instructions
\n
• Carry out continuity, functional and bench tests using multimeters, power supplies and oscilloscopes
\n
• Support engineers with prototype builds, integration and troubleshooting
\n
• Support environmental testing and flight test preparation
\n
• Record build and test results and flag defects or design issues to engineering
\n
• Maintain an organized, ESD-safe lab and manage component and parts inventory
\n
• Technician II: lead complex rework, train Technician I staff and help develop build and test procedures
\n

Experience Required:

\n
• High school diploma, with an associate degree, technical certification or military electronics training preferred
\n
• Electrical Technician I: 1+ years of hands-on PCB assembly or electronics build experience
\n
• Electrical Technician II: 3+ years of hands-on PCB assembly, rework and test experience
\n
• Strong surface mount and through-hole soldering skills
\n
• Experience with reflow ovens and PCB rework stations
\n
• Able to read schematics, assembly drawings and BOMs
\n
• Experience with basic test equipment such as multimeters, power supplies and oscilloscopes
\n
• IPC-A-610 or J-STD-001 certification preferred
\n
• Wiring harness and cable assembly experience desirable
\n
• Aerospace, defense or other high-reliability electronics experience desirable
\n
• US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
