CHIEF NURSING OFFICER# CHIEF NURSING OFFICERHorizon Rehabilitation Hospital - McKinney, TX 75071## OverviewPosition TypeFull TimeJob ShiftDay## Description**P****OSITION** **S****UMMARY**Responsible for directing and facilitating the activities of nursing and clinical services. Assumes an active leadership role in the hospital’s decision-making structure and process. Ensuring and facilitates competence of the clinical staff, appropriate staffing for patient care, and clinical program development. Develops hospital-wide systems, policies and procedures designed to meet patient care needs. Has overall responsibility and accountability for the development of staffing plans and development and implementation of departmental budgets. Responsible for planning for the appropriate utilization of resources, maintaining or improving the work environment, and monitoring and improving the quality and appropriateness of care. Ensures that a registered nurse is on premises supervising nursing services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Works closely with Physicians to address patient care needs and enhance patient care systems. Promotes the facility through active involvement and participation in external and internal activities concerning health care services.**P****OSITION** **S****UPERVISORY** **R****ESPONSIBILITIES**Supervises the following positions: Manages and directs designated clinical departments, which may include, but are not limited to, nursing, therapies (including RT), dietary, wound care, rehab, case management and business development.## Qualifications**P****OSITION** **Q****UALIFICATIONS****M****INIMUM** **Q****UALIFICATIONS****:*** Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required.* Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Nursing or Business required.* Three (3) years’ experience in a Nursing Management position supervising the delivery of patient care required.* Previous in-patient rehab experience preferred, but not required.* Ability to project a professional image.* Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills.* Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.* Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.* Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.**Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:*** Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment required.* Current BLS and ACLS certification required.* Valid driver’s license is required where work is provided in multiple sites.**A****TTENDANCE**Regular and punctual attendance.**L****ANGUAGE** **S****KILLS**English is the primary language of the facility. Ability to read and write, communicate clearly with co-workers and customers and to respond to appropriate questions regarding work process or work product.**M****ATHEMATICAL** **S****KILLS**Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as appropriate to the position.**R****EASONING** **A****BILITY**Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form.
