Surgical Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular Job ID: R_00048191 Location AUSTIN, TX Hiring Department Dell Medical School Position Open To All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours 40 FLSA Status Exempt from FLSA Earliest Start Date Immediately Position Duration Expected to Continue Job Details Purpose: In collaboration with supervising physicians, provides for theexpansion of individualized healthcare services by diagnosing andtreating adult cardiovascular and thoracic conditions. Clinical Responsibilities Operating Room based Physician Assistants will primarily workassisting in the cardiovascular operating room. Obtains patient history and performs assessment viaobservation, interview, and examination. Orders, performs andinterprets diagnostic studies. Performs health assessments,screening, and patient care. Provides direct treatment and management of conditions viaprescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers orcommunity resources. Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregiversconcerning health conditions, treatment options and communityresources. Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes inaccordance with specific specialty area standards and networknursing policy.Participates in orientation and education of staffand students. Other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications A board-certified Physician Assistant in good standing andcredentialed by the Texas Medical Board with Prescriptive Authorityand minimum 1 year experience in cardiothoracic surgical firstassisting with proficiency in endoscopic and open conduitharvest. Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast-pacedenvironment with minimal guidance. Ability to address individuals and information with a highdegree of sensitivity and confidentiality in varioussituations. Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providersas part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare delivery team. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience maybe substituted as appropriate. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Salary Range $140,000+ depending on qualifications WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT Standard office equipment Repetitive use of a keyboard May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicablediseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing and non-ionizingradiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combativepatients, or others.
