Job Description

The Segmentation Technician produces high-quality pre-operative surgical plans that support robotically assisted total hip and knee replacement procedures. This role focuses on precise CT scan segmentation, creation of 3D anatomical bone models, and accurate surgical planning, while consistently meeting team and department production targets. The technician follows established protocols and documentation standards to ensure reliable, consistent output that directly contributes to cutting-edge medical device technology.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage surgical cases using a proprietary case management system.
• Review CT scans to confirm conformity with established surgical protocols.
• Segment CT scans using specialized software to generate accurate 3D anatomical bone models for use in robotic surgery.
• Develop pre-operative surgical plans based on digital bone models for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures.
• Review CT segmentations and surgical plans to ensure precise anatomical landmark selection, appropriate implant sizing, and optimal implant positioning.
• Upload completed pre-operative plans to field-based personnel in a timely and accurate manner.
• Document all activities and case details according to prescribed methods, procedures, and work instructions.
• Follow work instructions exactly to deliver consistent, high-quality output that meets production and quality standards.
• Maintain a strong focus on individual production performance to help achieve team and department targets.
• Collaborate with team members in a close-knit environment to support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

Essential Skills

• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with design software, Photoshop, CAD, and related tools.
• Ability to work accurately with specialized segmentation software to create 3D anatomical bone models.
• Attention to detail in reviewing CT scans, anatomical landmarks, and implant sizing and positioning.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and standardized procedures consistently.
• Effective documentation skills, with the ability to record activities according to prescribed methods.
• At least 2 years of work experience in fast-paced environments or computer-oriented roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong general computer literacy and comfort working in digital workflows.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher preferred, ideally in a STEM-related field.
• Knowledge of anatomy highly preferred for accurate segmentation and surgical planning.
• Experience or coursework in biomedical fields, medical or healthcare environments, or microbiology is beneficial.
• Background in design, drafting, or computer-aided design (CAD) is an advantage.
• Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and the Adobe Creative Suite is helpful.
• Experience as a medical scribe or in medical documentation can be useful.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.
• Interest in medical devices, robotic surgery, or biomedical technology.
• Motivation to grow into roles such as engineering, sales, onsite robotic surgery support, or advanced positions within the department.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position in a relatively quiet, focused atmosphere. The role follows a second-shift schedule from approximately 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with voluntary opportunities to extend shifts up to 10 hours. During the holiday season, Saturday shifts are typically available, and Sunday work may be compensated at a higher rate. The team operates with a close-knit, family-style culture, offering opportunities to grow into engineering, sales, onsite robotic surgery support, and promotional roles within the department. Business casual dress attire is expected in the workplace, and the environment centers around cutting-edge technology in one of the largest growth areas in the medical device industry.

This is a Contract position based out of Portage, MI.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Portage,MI.
