  Dell PowerEdge XE / Liquid Cooling Resident

  Position Overview

  The Dell PowerEdge XE / Liquid Cooling Resident serves as an onsite operational resource embedded within the customer's data center environment. The resident acts as an extension of the customer's operations team and works closely with Dell support organizations, including the assigned Technical Customer Success Manager (TCSM), to maintain operational awareness, identify issues early, coordinate support activities, and help ensure the overall health and availability of the environment.

  This role supports both PowerEdge XE server infrastructure and liquid cooling technologies, including CDUs and Rear Door Heat Exchangers (RDHx). The resident provides daily operational oversight, monitoring, issue coordination, documentation management, customer communication, and support coordination while collaborating with Dell support teams, facilities personnel, and third-party vendors.

  Because XE and Liquid Cooling technologies are relatively new, direct experience is not expected for all candidates. Dell seeks candidates with strong transferable datacenter, infrastructure, operational, and customer-facing skills who demonstrate the ability to rapidly learn new technologies. Selected candidates will complete Dell XE and Liquid Cooling training prior to assignment start.

  Key Responsibilities

  Operational Oversight & Environment Monitoring

  • Support day-to-day datacenter operations and activities
  • Perform daily datacenter walkthroughs to inspect racks, servers, cooling infrastructure, and overall data hall conditions
  • Monitor for amber lights, alerts, hot racks, cooling abnormalities, environmental concerns, and operational risks
  • Identify issues proactively and initiate the appropriate escalation or remediation process
  • Perform health checks, trend analysis, and operational assessments of the environment
  • Ensure no critical incidents remain without an action plan during business hours

  Server & Infrastructure Operations

  • Perform BIOS and firmware lifecycle activities, including BIOS, BMC, and iDRAC updates when authorized
  • Support server validation and operational checks
  • Perform initial diagnostics and troubleshooting before escalating to Dell Support
  • Collect and analyze diagnostics and logs, including TSR collections, NVIDIA-SMI outputs, NVIDIA bug reports, DCGM diagnostics, and other validation activities
  • Support the customer with version management, patching activities, user administration, and operational tasks as authorized

  Support Coordination & Case Management

  • Review customer issues, service requests, and support cases daily
  • Create, update, monitor, and track support cases when required
  • Coordinate issue resolution activities with Dell Support, DSEs, OSEs, FSEs, customer personnel, and third-party vendors
  • Maintain visibility into customer issues through Dell Lightning, MyService360, Jira, ServiceNow, or customer-approved tracking systems
  • Track and manage RMAs, spare parts, and replacement part logistics
  • Assist with case escalation and ensure issues continue progressing toward resolution
  • Maintain daily communication with Dell support teams and customer stakeholders

  TCSM Partnership

  • Work closely with the assigned Technical Customer Success Manager (TCSM) to maintain operational awareness, coordinate customer communications, monitor open issues, support escalation management, and ensure alignment between customer operations and Dell support organizations.

  Liquid Cooling Operations

  • Monitor CDU and RDHx displays to ensure cooling systems are operating within expected parameters
  • Monitor temperatures, pressures, flows, alarms, and operational conditions of cooling equipment
  • Review cooling system logs and identify abnormalities requiring investigation
  • Perform visual inspections of primary and secondary cooling loops
  • Inspect cooling infrastructure for leaks, vibration, or abnormal operating conditions not detected by sensors
  • Monitor and respond to CDU and RDHx alerts and alarms
  • Escalate facility-related cooling issues to customer facilities teams, electricians, plumbers, or cooling vendors when appropriate
  • Conduct cooling trend analysis and health assessments
  • Perform cooling-related firmware updates as approved by the vendor or customer
  • Engage vendor support and coordinate issue resolution activities

  Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain environment documentation, including:
    • Asset inventories
    • Serial numbers
    • Rack elevations
    • Runbooks
    • Environment diagrams
    • Operational procedures
  • Document support activities, troubleshooting activities, break-fix events, hardware replacements, validations, and customer-impacting events
  • Maintain daily operational activity reports
  • Provide weekly operational summaries and status updates
  • Communicate risks, blockers, incidents, and operational concerns to Dell and customer stakeholders

  Customer & Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate maintenance activities involving:
    • Power infrastructure
    • Cooling infrastructure
    • Containment systems
    • Server infrastructure
  • Escort dispatched field engineers when required
  • Support Dell FSEs during onsite activities and validate adherence to approved plans of action
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors and facilities teams
  • Verify onsite spare parts inventory when requested

  Work Environment

  • Full-time onsite position
  • Five days per week onsite presence required
  • Supports complex AI, GPU, PowerEdge XE, and Liquid Cooling environments
  • Direct interaction with customer operations teams and Dell support organizations
  • May support environments containing multiple vendors, cooling technologies, and customer-specific operational requirements

  Why This Role Is Different

  PowerEdge XE and Liquid Cooling Residency is a developing service offering where direct XE experience is limited across the industry. Success in this role is less dependent on prior XE experience and more dependent on strong datacenter operations experience, customer engagement skills, infrastructure knowledge, troubleshooting ability, operational discipline, and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and support models.

  Dell provides required XE and Liquid Cooling training to selected candidates prior to assignment start.

Pay Range : There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
