Payroll Specialist

We are hiring a Certified Payroll Professional to join our well-established, $120 million organization in the construction industry. This individual will own the entire payroll process from start to finish, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations. This is a high-impact position that extends beyond traditional payroll processing. The Payroll Specialist will manage multi-state payroll tax filings, employee benefits administration, payroll reporting, compliance, and employee support while serving as the company's internal payroll expert. Responsibilities Process accurate, high-volume weekly payroll for employees across multiple states Review, audit, and validate employee timesheets prior to payroll processing Process direct deposits, payroll adjustments, wage corrections, garnishments, benefit deductions, and other payroll changes Maintain employee payroll records and ensure payroll information remains accurate and current Administer the electronic timekeeping system, including employee setup, timecard management, and payroll data transfers Prepare, reconcile, and file federal, state, and unemployment payroll tax returns Establish new state withholding and unemployment tax accounts as needed Process year-end payroll activities, including W-2 and W-3 reporting Research and resolve payroll discrepancies while providing exceptional customer service to employees Generate payroll reports and provide payroll analytics to management Coordinate closely with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure payroll accuracy and regulatory compliance Administer employee benefit deductions, enrollments, qualifying life events, and terminations Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and payroll tax regulations Stay current on changing payroll laws and regulatory requirements Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, organization, reporting, and overall efficiency Qualifications Years of payroll processing experience with significant multi-state payroll tax filing and compliance experience Experience processing high-volume, weekly payroll in a fast-paced environment Strong knowledge of federal, state, local, and unemployment payroll tax regulations Experience preparing payroll tax filings and reconciliations Experience utilizing integrated payroll and accounting systems High School Diploma or GED required Experience with Vista Viewpoint or similar ERP/payroll software (preferred) Construction industry payroll experience (preferred) Experience administering employee benefits and payroll deductions (preferred) What\'s In It For You Annual Discretionary Performance Bonus Hybrid Schedule after ramp-up Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays Stable, growing organization with long-term career advancement opportunities Opportunity to own the complete payroll function from start to finish High visibility with Accounting and company leadership Opportunity to improve payroll processes and implement operational efficiencies Collaborative, team-oriented culture built on integrity, accountability, and mutual respect Opportunity to expand expertise in multi-state payroll, payroll tax compliance, employee benefits administration, and construction payroll operations #J-18808-Ljbffr
