Job Summary Clark College is hiring two full‑time, permanent Grounds & Nursery Services Specialist 3 positions. The primary duties involve skilled gardening work for the maintenance of college grounds and landscapes. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., though final hours may vary. Job Duties and Responsibilities Maintain planting beds, including weeding, edging, pruning, and other upkeep. Maintain lawns, including mowing, fertilizing, aerating, and thatching. Install, repair, and operate irrigation systems. Remove leaves and debris from the college grounds. Keep parking lots and walkways safe, clean, and free of trash and debris. Apply pesticides and herbicides to plants. Operate power and motorized equipment such as weed trimmers, chain saws, backpack blowers, rototillers, light tractors, front‑end loaders, small trucks, lawn mowers, sweepers, aerators, sod cutters, and snow blowers. Create new planting beds and plant trees and plants. Service and maintain tools and equipment. Assist with snow and ice removal. Perform related duties as required. Position Requirements and Competencies Two years of experience or training in grounds maintenance, gardening, plant care, cultivation, landscape installation, and knowledge of plant material. Ability to drive and operate the equipment listed above. Current driver’s license. Ability to obtain a Washington Pesticide Applicator’s License. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, walk, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for long periods. Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Capability to work within a team, communicate effectively, and maintain professional relationships. Commitment to work with people from diverse backgrounds. Working Conditions Initial appointment includes a six‑month probationary period; permanent status is earned after successful completion. The position is represented by the Washington Public Employees Association. Salary and Benefits Salary range: $3,485–$4,633 per month, Step A‑M (commensurate with qualifications and experience). Benefits include vacation/sick leave; medical, dental, life, and long‑term disability insurance; retirement; and tuition waiver.
