Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Day Shift (6:45 AM-7:15 PM)
Schedule: 3 days/week, 12 hrs/day, 36 hrs/week
Pay Range: $60-$64/hr.
Schedule Notes:

• Inpatient Behavioral Health Facility
• Every other weekend required
• No holidays required
• No on-call
• Floating required within facility to like units
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient behavioral health experience required
• Float Pool experience required

• Minimum 2 years of inpatient behavioral health nursing experience

• Behavioral health patient assessment and treatment planning
• Medication administration and monitoring
• Suicide assessment and prevention
• Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
• Therapeutic patient interactions and milieu management
• Seclusion and restraint protocol knowledge
• Psycho-educational group facilitation
• Behavioral health documentation and charting
• Computer literacy and EMR documentation skills
• Ability to care for adolescent, adult, and older adult populations
• Knowledge of cultural competency and age-appropriate care
• Effective verbal and written communication skills

Education

Required

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)

Preferred

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active New Jersey RN License or Compact RN License
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)

Job Summary

Functions under the supervision of the Unit Director and Charge Nurse to provide individualized behavioral health nursing care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient treatment plans. Collaborates with multidisciplinary treatment teams to support inpatient psychiatric patient care, crisis intervention, medication management, psycho-educational activities, and discharge planning while maintaining compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

Duties

Patient Care & Treatment Planning

• Complete nursing admission assessments and individualized treatment plans
• Assess patient strengths, weaknesses, and behavioral health needs
• Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning conferences
• Review and update treatment plans based on patient condition
• Provide age-appropriate and culturally competent patient care

Medication Administration & Documentation

• Administer medications and treatments according to policy
• Monitor and document medication effectiveness and adverse reactions
• Transcribe and review physician orders
• Maintain accurate behavioral health charting and patient documentation
• Complete daily observations, SOAPIE notes, and patient education records

Behavioral Health & Crisis Management

• Conduct suicide assessments and prevention interventions
• Support therapeutic milieu and patient safety initiatives
• Implement seclusion, restraint, CIWA, and withdrawal protocols as appropriate
• Respond appropriately to behavioral health emergencies and crisis situations
• Utilize least restrictive interventions and de-escalation techniques

Education & Collaboration

• Provide psycho-educational groups and patient/family education
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and treatment teams
• Assist with orientation and education of staff and students
• Participate in unit quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
