Environmental Specialist

Position Summary The Environmental Specialist supports the Environmental Manager in the collection and reporting of data and is responsible for the operation of environmental systems in a direct and/or supervisory role. The Environmental Specialist may supervise and interact with field staff on a variety of construction and technical issues across multiple divisions. Principal Responsibilities Collect, report, and track environmental monitoring at relevant locations. Maintain facility operating records including storm water compliance inspections, sampling, reporting, and training in accordance with facility‑specific Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and the Industrial Storm Water General Permit (ISWGP). Perform ongoing public relations and due diligence activities through communication with Division and Business Unit management and regulatory agency representatives. Conduct site audits, complete and analyze monthly environmental reports, and assist with required environmental sampling and reporting in conjunction with the Environmental Manager. Oversee the roll‑out and completion of environmental projects, including landfill monitoring, gas extraction or leachate management system operations, and maintenance. Coordinate with outside vendors handling environmental systems and recommend vendor activities. Ensure compliance by coordinating air and water monitoring, reviewing environmental data, and tracking compliance tasks. Conduct and coordinate formal and informal environmental training for Environmental Technicians, Landfill Managers, and other employees. Assist with construction project management duties, such as tracking construction progress and compliance. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Qualifications Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations relating to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery/recycling. Strong time‑management, written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills. Analytical ability and focus on adding value to the Company. Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and meet company safety standards with honesty and trustworthiness. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Commitment to adhering to Company policies, rules, and safety standards. Minimum Requirements 4 years of knowledge and/or experience related to environmental science, engineering, geology or related science.
