GMCO is seeking an experienced Assurance Senior to join our growing public accounting practice. This role is ideal for a motivated and detail-oriented professional who combines strong technical auditing skills with a commitment to client service, team development, and engagement excellence.

As an Assurance Senior, you will serve as the in-charge professional on audit, review, and assurance engagements, leading day-to-day engagement execution from planning through completion. You will oversee engagement workflows, supervise and develop staff, perform detailed reviews of work performed, and work closely with managers and shareholders to deliver high-quality assurance services. This role provides meaningful opportunities to build client relationships, apply professional judgment, strengthen technical expertise, and contribute to the continued success of the firm's assurance practice.

What you'll be doing

• Lead engagement execution throughout the assurance lifecycle by coordinating planning activities, managing fieldwork, monitoring engagement progress, and ensuring timely completion in accordance with U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and firm methodologies.
• Serve as the engagement in-charge on assigned engagements by overseeing day-to-day activities, coordinating team responsibilities, managing workflow priorities, and ensuring work is completed accurately and efficiently.
• Perform detailed reviews of staff workpapers, financial statements, and client deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, compliance with professional standards, and adherence to firm quality expectations.
• Manage engagement budgets and timelines by monitoring progress against budgeted hours, identifying scheduling conflicts, communicating scope changes, and addressing obstacles that may impact delivery.
• Apply professional judgment and technical expertise to identify accounting, auditing, and financial reporting issues, conduct research independently, and develop appropriate conclusions and recommendations.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and a thorough understanding of client operations, industry trends, and business objectives.
• Act as a trusted client resource by keeping clients informed of engagement status, addressing questions promptly, and helping them understand audit findings, reporting requirements, and recommendations.
• Identify opportunities to improve client processes and operations by providing practical insights related to financial reporting, internal controls, efficiency, and overall business effectiveness.
• Collaborate with tax, advisory, outsourced accounting, and consulting teams to support integrated service delivery and ensure clients receive comprehensive solutions.
• Coach, mentor, and develop staff associates through effective delegation, on-the-job training, performance feedback, and guidance tailored to individual learning styles and development needs.
• Promote accountability and team effectiveness by communicating expectations clearly, monitoring deliverables, providing constructive feedback, and helping resolve challenges that impact team performance.
• Support business development efforts by identifying client needs, recognizing opportunities for additional services, and contributing to positive client experiences that strengthen firm relationships.
• Contribute to firm initiatives and operational excellence by supporting recruiting, onboarding, training, mentoring, process improvement efforts, and other firm-wide programs.
• Demonstrate and uphold core values including integrity, quality, accountability, collaboration, stewardship, and inclusivity in all aspects of client service and team leadership.

What makes you a fit

• Education : Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience : Minimum 3+ years of recent public accounting experience in assurance, audit, or attest services with demonstrated progression in responsibility and engagement leadership.
• Certification : CPA license preferred or actively pursuing CPA certification.
• Technical Expertise : Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, financial reporting requirements, auditing procedures, and assurance methodologies.
• Leadership : Demonstrated success supervising and developing staff, leading engagement teams, and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and professionally to clients and team members.
• Technology : Proficiency with CaseWare or similar audit and working paper management systems, Microsoft Office applications, and data extraction and analysis tools.
• Project Management : Proven ability to manage engagement budgets, deadlines, competing priorities, and client expectations while delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits

At Geffen Mesher, we value transparency and equity in compensation. The compensation offered for this position will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to: years of relevant experience, unique or specialized skill sets, education, licensure, and internal equity. The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000-$106,000.
