The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) will perform critical inspection and quality assurance tasks on welding operations within our fabrication shops. This position involves working closely with a small team of 1-3 inspectors and reporting directly to the Quality Manager. The inspector ensures compliance with welding codes and standards, conducts nondestructive testing, verifies materials, and documents inspection results to maintain the highest quality and safety levels on-site.
Responsibilities
- Inspect welding work for compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Perform nondestructive testing to identify welding defects
- Verify materials and welding procedures meet project specifications
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation
- Ensure all welding activities comply with safety regulations
- Analyze welding defects and recommend corrective actions
- Calibrate inspection and testing equipment regularly
- Collaborate with a small inspection team and report to Quality Manager
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in welding inspection
- Associate degree in Welding Technology or related field
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
- Knowledge of welding standards and codes
- Experience with nondestructive testing (NDT)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Understanding of metallurgy fundamentals
- Strong quality control and report writing skills
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
