AGRONOMY DEPARTMENT

SEASONAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS

Agronomy Definition:
Agronomy is a branch of agriculture dealing with field-crop production and soil management.

Work Schedule

Daytime Shift:

• Hours of operation will range from 5:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and are subject to change.
• Overtime and weekends may be required.

Brief Summary of Job

• Responsible for filling anhydrous ammonia tanks.
• Accountable for maintenance and professional appearance of equipment and facilities.
• Maintain cleanliness of the plant, which could include, but is not limited to, sweeping, shoveling, mowing, and pressure washing.
• Actual responsibilities will vary depending on daily needs and type of facility.
• Uphold compliance with OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations.
• Accountable for maintenance and professional appearance of equipment, rolling stock, and facilities.
• Provide a professional manner when interacting with employees and customers.

Qualities / Skills Needed

• Proven ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Must be reliable and have great attention to detail.
• Understanding of and willingness to learn.
• Basic knowledge of math and measurements.
• Ability to follow directions and use logical thought processes to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel independently and overnight when necessary.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and/or alternate shifts as needed and be on-call as business conditions warrant.
• Travel: 5%–20% travel may be required at some facilities. This may include off-site training and/or work at alternate locations.

Physical Demands

• Considerable physical exertion.
  • Ability to lift 50–70 lbs.
• Exposure to extreme weather conditions, including hot, cold, and wet conditions, as well as noisy environments.
• Working conditions may include exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures.
