Anesthesia Technician - Ambulatory Surgical Center

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Works in conjunction with the anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist to prepare patients for anesthesia and surgery Check all rooms at the start of the day and assist anesthesiologist and nurse anesthetist; open scavenger system; check anesthesia machine drawer for equipment; fill and turn off vaporizers when necessary; change soda lime; ensure proper connections; check O2 and N2O tanks Check equipment cart for drugs and equipment; check monitor for cleanliness, cables, and set up electrodes and oximeter; clean anesthesia machine; restock drawers in anesthesia machines and set up endotracheal equipment; restock drawers and monitoring equipment; clean cart and machine in each room and set up machines at close of shift; turn off scavenger system Prepare patient: set-ups include suction, I.V., endotracheal tube, central venous pressure, blood transfusion, arterial pressure, Swan-Ganz catheter, cardiac output; greet and identify patient; attach monitor leads, oximeter, blood pressure cuff Assist any anesthesiologist or anesthetist during induction, central venous pressure, arterial line, Swan-Ganz catheter, cardiac output, patient positioning, protection of eyes and limbs, and in emergencies such as cardiac arrest Carry out the cell-saving procedure: check schedule; set up machine with disposable components; check suction; connect suction tubing to the cell-saver machine at the beginning of the case; process blood and return to patient; disconnect machine; discard software; clean machine; calculate blood loss; report any malfunction to anesthesia nurse manager Use unplanned earned time appropriately; arrive and leave at designated times; plan time away from work appropriately Perform other related duties as required QUALIFICATIONS High School Graduate or Equivalent (preferred) Heart Saver certification required within 60 days of hire date from American Heart Association or Red Cross MINIMUM EXPERIENCE 0–1 year of work-related experience required to perform responsibilities effectively OTHER REQUIREMENTS Consistently promote a culture of Wellbeing, Empathy, Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, and Equity as outlined in the organization’s WE CARE values

PAY RANGE $22.00 - $32.69
