We’re looking for a student-centered, collaborative professional who brings strong communication skills, curiosity, initiative, and a genuine interest in helping students succeed. The ideal candidate will also have experience working with students in higher education, particularly in roles that involve direct support or guidance. Provides direction and resources related to the research of major and transfer requirement at other institutions. Advises students on choosing the appropriate classes for their major and career/transfer goals. Educates students about the interview process, including: application, resume and cover letter writing, portfolios, and interview techniques. Assists with daily operations of the Career Center, publicizes services, hours, and career materials available to students, faculty and the community. Provides developmental advising related to goal setting, career planning, and educational planning. Orients students to Focus 2 Career. Maintains accurate records regarding utilization of materials and services. Advises students about careers. Accesses, inputs and retrieves data from a computer. Administers assessments as assigned by Career Center Coordinators, and Counselors. Performs other related duties as assigned. Working Conditions General Working Conditions This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
