BILINGUAL OUTREACH ADVOCATE JOB DESCRIPTIONFLSA STATUS: Exempt / Full-timeSUMMARY: Responsible for supporting victims of family violence through the provision of trauma informed advocacy and case management services. The Outreach Advocate is committed to promoting the safety and empowerment of all victims and will offer individual and group case management/advocacy services along with crisis intervention, accompaniment, and information and referrals.DIRECT REPORT: Senior Manager of Support ServicesLOCATION: Garland Outreach Office *Ability to travel to office locations and provide client accompaniment.SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday – Generally 9-5 business hours with the ability to set schedule to meet clients' needs.Hope's Door New Beginning Center (HDNBC) is a non-profit agency providing a continuum of care for individuals who are victims of domestic abuse. HDNBC provides safety, healing, advocacy, and prevention. Find out more here: ResponsibilitiesProvide victim-centered, trauma-informed advocacy with compassion, empathy, and respect. Promote and support a work environment that values diversity, equity, and respect for all individuals.Deliver advocacy services to individuals seeking support at HDNBC outreach centers.Conduct client assessments to determine eligibility for HDNBC services and makeappropriate referrals to community resources when additional or alternative services are needed.Manage an active client caseload, including scheduling intakes and follow-up services and conducting regular outreach; a minimum of 20 hours of work time is dedicated to direct client services.Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, including case notes, service plans, referrals, and consultations within the agency database.Demonstrate flexibility by assisting with front desk responsibilities during periods of high demand, absence, or as operational needs required.Conduct comprehensive client intakes, including safety planning, needs assessment, goal setting (short- and long-term), and identification of case management and advocacy needs.Maintain regular contact with clients awaiting outreach services, including therapy or legal assistance.Receive and assess urgent and crisis-related calls to determine immediate safety needs and appropriate interventions.Provide on-call assistance to individuals arriving in person without appointments.Assist clients with completing forms, documentation, and tasks related to advocacy and service access.Provide consultation and guidance to staff and volunteers regarding client advocacy needs.Provide accompaniment to clients, upon request, for la w enforcement interviews, court hearings, and appointments with service providers.Support clients in navigating legal and government systems by explaining processes, procedures, and available options.Advocate on behalf of clients to obtain community resources through in-person support, phone calls, and written communication.Develop, maintain, and regularly update a resource database for client services.Coordinate services with external providers, including housing programs, legal services, and other community partners.Build and maintain collaborative relationships with community service providers to support referrals and coordinated care.Research and apply best practices to ensure services are culturally responsive, survivor -centered, and trauma-informed.Provide Partner Advocate support to victims whose current or former partners are enrolled in the Battering Intervention Prevention Program (BIPP).Monitor and respond to service requests received via the agency email inbox and schedule appointments or provide referrals as appropriate.Participate in individual client staffing, team meetings, and multidisciplinary meetings.Perform additional client support duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.OtherMaintain current licensure, certifications, and professional affiliations, as applicable.Participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and conferencesrelated to family violence advocacy.Adhere to state laws, ethical standards, and agency policies and procedures.Participate in agency events and outreach activities.Perform other duties as assigned. Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field required; Master's degree preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Experience in crisis intervention, case management, counseling, advocacy, legal systems, and service coordination preferred, particularly in the field of family violence.Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft 365, cloud-based storage systems, and file management software strongly preferred.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English required.Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish preferred.Licenses & CertificationsValid Texas Driver's License Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesAt least one year of experience working with victims of trauma or family violence.At least one year of experience providing case management services.Knowledge of the Power and Control Wheel and dynamics of family violence.Experience building and maintaining effective relationships with diverse populations.Knowledge of individual and group facilitation techniques for education, support, and skills-based sessions.Strong knowledge of community resources.Experience in trauma-related service fields, including family violence, child abuse, or sexual violence.Ability to represent the agency in a professional and positive manner.Ability to lead and facilitate psychoeducation and support groups.Ability to develop and implement individualized service plans.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.Strong time management skills, with the ability to maintain consistent attendance and meet deadlines.Commitment to confidentiality, safety protocols, and agency policies to ensure client well-being.Working Conditions: Working locations: Plano and Garland (Shelter and Outreach offices). Currently services are being provided in person and via telehealth. This position is primarily on- site in the office.Physical Requirements: Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (up to 25 lbs.). Ability to accompany clients to advocacy appointments as needed.
