Senior Scientist, Biotransformation

Bristol Myers Squibb seeks a Senior Scientist in Biotransformation to support drug discovery programs within the Pharmaceutical Candidate Optimization group. The role focuses on designing and executing metabolite identification studies, operating mass spectrometry platforms, and providing technical expertise in small-molecule metabolism at the Princeton, NJ site.
Responsibilities
- Design, conduct, and interpret in vitro and in vivo metabolism studies to characterize metabolic pathways and kinetics
- Operate and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS and high-resolution mass spectrometry instruments; develop new assays and analytical methods
- Use experimental data and mechanistic reasoning to troubleshoot complex metabolism questions and define next research steps
- Lead scientific discussions in multidisciplinary meetings; mentor junior scientists and collaborate across DMPK and partner functions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with 7+ years experience; or Master's with 5+ years; or Ph.D. with 2+ years
- Hands-on expertise in small-molecule biotransformation, drug metabolism, and LC-MS/MS or high-resolution mass spectrometry operation
- Demonstrated ability to independently design experiments, interpret data, and communicate findings clearly across disciplines
- Working knowledge of organic or medicinal chemistry applicable to metabolite identification and structure interpretation
- Experience with computational tools for metabolite prediction and data analysis (Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism)
- Publication record demonstrating scientific achievement
Compensation: $121,500 - $147,228
